Watkins Nurseries Donates Plants for 11th Annual Honey Bee Festival!!

Have you heard the buzz??? Watkins Nurseries has donated bee friendly plants to Rockwood Park Backyard Beekeepers Association (RPBBA) to help them celebrate the 11th Annual Honey Bee Festival!

The European honey bee was first brought to the America’s right here in Jamestown, Virginia in 1622! After being brought to our East Coast it took 231 years before the honey bee reached our West Coast; helping to pollinate our beautiful country from sea to shining sea!

Join the Rockwood Park Backyard Beekeepers Association as they celebrate the 400th anniversary of the honey bee coming to America! The event is being hosted at Rockwood Park in North Chesterfield on Saturday June 25, 2022! Event hours are 10:00AM-2:00PM and includes fun for the whole family!! Meet local artisans and vendors selling honey, plus there will be live music, face painting, educational “buzz” talks, observation hives, children’s activities, food vendors, hive equipment, and bee friendly plants provided by Watkins Nurseries!

We are honored and privileged to be a part of one of the many local activities celebrating our precious pollinators! Check out for more pollinator week info and for more events happening this week!!

It sure is getting hot outside, but that’s nothing a few trees can’t fix!! As the temperatures increase as well as the foliage on the trees, we are reminded just how beneficial and vital they are!! Providing shade, shelter and food for humans and animals, trees are truly the answer for the summer heat!! The temps are not too hot to plant, but they are definitely too hot to dig without risk!

So beginning today, June 9, 2022 (until Fall) we will be charging a 20% PREMIUM TO DIG ANY TREES FROM OUR FARM. In addition, the tree(s) dug and installed during this time will not carry our normal 6 month guarantee.

20% Premium DOES NOT apply to container trees or trees that are already above ground. There’s still plenty of time to get GROWING for the summer! Come on by, give us a call or check out our online inventory to see which tree you’d like to sit under this summer!!
